This three-day Campus Network Design and Operations (CNDO) workshop equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, build, operate, secure, and manage modern campus network infrastructure following industry best practices. Through expert-led presentations, interactive discussions, and extensive hands-on laboratories, participants will gain practical experience in designing scalable, resilient, and secure campus networks for higher education and research institutions.

The workshop covers campus network design principles, structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, campus routing and switching, IPv4 and IPv6 dual-stack deployment, VLAN segmentation, Layer 2 protection, network monitoring, security best practices, firewall placement, and operational management. Participants will also explore real-world campus networking challenges and recommended design approaches used by Research and Education Networks (RENs).

Day 3 is dedicated entirely to practical laboratory exercises using Cisco Packet Tracer version 9.1 or later. Participants will design and implement a complete campus network, configure VLANs, Rapid Spanning Tree, Layer 2 protection mechanisms, IPv4 and IPv6 dual-stack inter-VLAN routing, and deploy a multi-campus network using static routing, Multi-Area OSPF, route summarization, and security best practices. Participants should bring a laptop with Cisco Packet Tracer version 9.1 or newer installed before the workshop.

This workshop is intended for network engineers, ICT officers, system administrators, university technical staff, NREN/REN engineers, and other professionals responsible for planning, deploying, operating, or maintaining campus network infrastructure. A basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and switching concepts is recommended.
