Description

IPv6 Deployment & Operations is a practical network training focused on helping universities and other SomaliREN-connected campuses prepare for, deploy, configure, and operate IPv6 using the IPv6 address allocations provided through SomaliREN.

Training description:

This training introduces participants to IPv6 addressing, subnetting, routing, network configuration, security, monitoring, and operational practices. Participants learn how to plan an IPv6 deployment for a campus network, assign IPv6 prefixes to VLANs and network segments, configure routers and switches, implement IPv6 routing, troubleshoot connectivity, and operate IPv6 alongside existing IPv4 networks.

Who should enroll:

  • Network Engineers
  • Network Administrators
  • System administrators involved in network services
  • IT Infrastructure Engineers
  • NOC Engineers and Network Operations staff
  • IT managers responsible for campus infrastructure
  • University ICT staff responsible for network operations
  • Engineers from SomaliREN member institutions preparing for IPv6 deployment
  • Advanced networking students who already understand IPv4, subnetting, VLANs, and basic routing

Recommended prerequisite:

Participants should understand IPv4 addressing and subnetting, VLANs, basic routing, DHCP, DNS, and basic router/switch configuration.

Prior experience with Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, or similar equipment will help.
