Description

Building Resilience for Digital Citizens and Activists: Digital Security

Digital technology is growing so fast nowadays and it is becoming more involved in every part of our daily life activities, from communication to the transportation systems, from individual house appliances to governmental institutions. All these interactions and transactions that humans create are called digital footprints or digital identities, and that is what the hackers or digital criminals are looking for to steal it for their personal gains. Digital users and institutions/organizations have been under constant digital attacks due to maybe their nature of work. These digital attacks can come from various sources such as government agencies or just ordinary hackers trying to see how far they can go to breach someone’s privacy.

In light of that, digital security is the mechanism of protecting these digital identities or digital footprints from internet criminals/hackers by using tools and techniques. Ensuring the security of the data and identities leads to Digital Safety which is basically to feel safe digitally and when using the internet.
