The Somali Research and Education Network (SomaliREN) is pleased to announce a 2-day workshop on library management and open science data for higher education and research institutions. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about best practices in library management, as well as the latest developments in open science data and its impact on research and education. Additionally, participants will be trained on the SomaliREN centralized open-access digital repository.
The workshop will conclude with a day dedicated to discussing the formation and establishment of the Somali Librarians and Knowledge Managers Society, which aims to support and promote the professional development of librarians and knowledge managers in Somalia.Objectives:
To provide participants with an overview of library management best practices and the latest developments in open science data.
To discuss the challenges and opportunities facing libraries in the Somali research and education sector.
To explore the potential benefits of a Somali Librarians and Knowledge Managers Society and to discuss the steps needed to establish such a society.
