Description

Organized by the Internet Society Somalia Chapter

The internet opens up huge opportunities - but it also comes with real risks: scams, hacked accounts, misinformation, and devices left exposed to attack. This one-day, hands-on workshop is designed to give women in Mogadishu the practical knowledge and confidence to navigate the internet safely, whatever their background or experience with technology.

You don't need to work in tech or have any technical background to join. This workshop is open to any woman in the community who wants to protect herself, her family, and her information online.

What You'll Learn

Led by ISOC Somalia Chapter's Technical Officer, the workshop covers nine practical topics, including: how to spot and avoid online scams, protecting your social media and email from hackers, telling whether an app or website is trustworthy, recognizing misinformation, managing what personal information you share online, what to do if you've clicked something suspicious, keeping your device secure (antivirus, updates, lock settings), strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and browsing the internet securely.

The day closes with an interactive activity where each participant builds her own personal digital safety plan to take home.

Why Attend

Learn directly from ISOC Somalia Chapter's technical team in plain, non-technical language. Walk away with a personal digital safety plan you can start using immediately. Connect with other women in your community focused on staying safe online. All participants who complete the workshop join ISOC Somalia Chapter as members, becoming part of a growing community focused on a safe, trusted internet for Somalia.

Who Should Attend

Any woman in Mogadishu - students, professionals, business owners, and anyone who uses a phone or the internet. No prior tech experience is needed. Seats are limited to 30 participants - register early to secure your spot.
