Description

Program Overview

As the rest of the developing world moves to the new economy driven by the Internet and technology, Somalia must build on the lessons they have learned throughout their efforts to climb to the top. The theme of SomNOG's annual conference for this year has been purposefully selected to create awareness of the importance of digital transformation, inform policy-makers, and inspire action.

SomNOG-6 is the 6th annual conference organized by the Somali Network Operators' Group. The one-week event will bring together professionals from the ICT sector, policy-makers, Internet service providers, academics, and other stakeholders. The goal is to provide a platform to discuss current issues facing the ICT sector and explore development opportunities and ideas for growth.

SomNOG-6 Technical Workshops and Tutorials

The Somali Network Operators’ Group (SomNOG) organizes capacity building workshops on networking and Internet technology throughout the year. The technical capacity development workshops and tutorials take place during the first 4 days of SomNOG week – 3 days of workshops and 1 day for the tutorials.

The purpose of the workshops and tutorials is to develop the skills of the ICT professionals and university graduates interested in taking their technical competencies to the next level through hands-on training sessions. The bottom-line is to contribute to employability of the local university graduates and improve the service delivery of the service providers and operators. Following a 60:40 practice to concepts ratio, both the workshops and the tutorials impart relevant skills that address the market demands and skill gaps that currently exist.
