SomNOG's Capacity Building Series presents IPv6 101: Addressing Fundamentals and Basic Configuration, delivered in partnership with the Internet Society Somalia Chapter.

This session covers: IPv4 exhaustion and its implications for African networks, IPv6 address notation and shortening rules, IPv6 address types (link-local, global unicast, unique local), address planning for ISPs, campuses, and enterprises, and basic IPv6 configuration on hosts and routers.

It's designed for network engineers, systems administrators, and ICT professionals in Somalia's Internet community who want a solid grounding in IPv6 before moving on to more advanced routing and transition topics. Basic familiarity with IPv4 networking fundamentals is recommended, but no prior IPv6 experience is required.
