The Ministry of Health and Human Services is pleased to announce that the National Health Workforce Summit will be held between the 14th and 15th of June 2023. This national summit will present lectures, discussions, research, and knowledge to discuss solutions for the national health workforce.
The purpose for the summit is to Provide a platform for experts on HRH to share experiences as well as provide guidance and expertise on best practices, policies and strategies for strengthening HRH policy and strategy (across the spectrum from doctors to community health workers) in Somalia and to Create an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to discuss and agree on key strategies and policy pathways for improving HRH in Somalia in the short and medium term.
The Summit will be attended by leaders from the federal government, heads of the Federal Member states, different Communities in the health sector, the health workforce, and partners working to improve our country's health workforce development
We believe the importance of research and information in setting policies and strategies that are informed by accurate and reliable information on the health workforce in Somalia. policies that can ensures equitable distribution of health workers across the different regions of Somalia, The Ministry of Health has put in place regulations to ensure that health workers meet the required standards of practice, regulations that outline the qualifications and training requirements for health workers in Somalia, however the enforcement of these regulation needs a collaborations between the stake holders involved in the health sector, in that regard the ministry of health Somali government is working with the private sector to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, this summit is platform for networking and partnership among the stakeholders in the sector.

It is our pleasure to welcome you all to the First National Health Workforce Summit (NHWS) organized by the Ministry of Health and Human service. This conference is an opportunity for all stakeholders in healthcare delivery to share their experiences, research, and innovative ideas on how to enhance the capacity of the healthcare workforce to better serve the community.
We all recognize the critical role that healthcare workers play in providing quality health services, advocating for policies that promote good health, and building resilient health systems. This Summit aims to highlight the challenges, opportunities, and successes in the health workforce landscape, and to identify the necessary steps for improving our health workforce capacity.
The theme selected for NHWS 2023 is “Building a Strong and Resilient Health Workforce for Somalia” and its objective include to create a forum for facilitating the exchange of practical experiences in all aspects of health care in Somalia, Provide a platform for experts on HRH to share experiences as well as provide guidance and expertise on best practices, policies and strategies for strengthening HRH policy and strategy, Create an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to discuss and agree on key strategies and policy pathways for improving HRH in Somalia in the short, medium and Long term,
I hope that through this Summit, we can harness in our collective expertise and ideas to develop sustainable solutions towards building a strong, well-equipped, and motivated workforce that delivers high-quality healthcare services.
